Compaction and Briquetting Densification and Particle Sizing

Compaction
Power is compressed into a solid form called flakes. Compressing the powder into flakes increases the bulk density of the material for the final product.

Dry Granulation
The flakes produced by compaction are gently milled to the required particle size distribution as required by the precess. Sieving or classification can also be performed to achieve a tighter distribution.
Briquetting
Briquetting processes utilize specially made compaction rolls enbling production of a variety of sizes and shapes. Typical examples include:
  • Pillow shapes
  • Almond shapes
  • Stickshapes
  • Based on the width of the compacting rolls, single or multiple feed screws are used. The goal is to insure proper feed distribution of material across the roll face, for consistant product quality and maxinum roll life.

    Flake Crushers FC

    Fine, but not too fine

    Application
    - Delumping for material flowability
    - Homogenizing mixtures
    - Crushing of soft or semi - soft materials while defining the upper particle size
    - Crushing of compacted flakes (granulating)

    Principle
The rotor cuts the material through a screen surface. The throughput, particle size range and crushing intensity are governed by the rotor speed, while the upper limit of particle size is dictated by the screen. Since the upper particle size is controlled by the screen, final screening of the product to remove "ovesized" material, is eliminated, which is often required by other types of crushers.
